My name is Domoina, and I’ve known Tahiry for 17 years. She is the Sister I never had.
In 2015, I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship to study in the U.S., which allowed me to focus solely on learning and growing without worrying about my financial situation. Unlike me, Tahiry carried a much heavier burden.
In 2013, Tahiry’s mother gave her all of her retirement money to go to Germany, hoping for a better future for her daughter. The money was just enough to buy the plane ticket and a little more than €100.
Tahiry had been working tirelessly, first as an au pair, then as a volunteer in elderly care and nursery schools. She was given an opportunity in the field of construction. She then became the first woman in Germany to complete vocational training as a specialized foundation engineer. By the End of 2024, she earned her Master’s degree in Geoenvironmental Engineering. None of her achievements should be taken for granted considering that she was severely sick for years.
In 2017, her mother suffered a life-threatening abdominal aortic aneurysm. Her life was saved by surgery, but only because Tahiry managed to borrow the money needed for the surgery. Since then, her mother has required constant Medication and regular check-ups – a huge financial strain on the family. Despite Tahiry’s efforts to support her mother, her condition worsened. Since Tahiry’s departure, her mother worked as a nurse trainer until the beginning of 2022. In July of the same year, she had to undergo another life-threatening surgery to stop the bleeding into the subdural space of her skull. Last year, new arterial blockages developed in her abdominal aortic prosthesis, as well as her neck and upper legs. This has caused her severe pain and limited mobility.
Tahiry and her sister not only have already lost their eldest sister and their father, but they have also been living with the constant possibility of losing their mother for years. Somehow, she and her family have grown even stronger in Faith, always being grateful to God for His endless Grace and Mercy, which I really admire. What a blessing it would be for them to finally be reunited and for Tahiry’s mother to thrive after the operation, made possible with your help.

- Fund her travel back to Madagascar
- Cover the medical costs for her mother’s urgent surgery: replacement of the aortic prosthesis on the Island of La Reunion and mandatory number of days for convalescence (according to her condition after the operation)
